1) The Word of God is our spiritual food
lcp.trwv.net/lcp/bsllc/oneyearbibleclub
Matthew 4:4 “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”
2) Mary chose to sit at Jesus feet and hear His Word while her sister Martha was distracted
Luke 10:38-42 Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” 41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
3) Jesus promised His Word would make us free
John 8:31-32 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
4) The Father and the Son live in Believers through His Word
John 14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.
5) The Word of God renews our minds
Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
6) The Word of God is called the Sword of the Spirit and is the Christians offensive weapon against the Devil
Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,
7) We are to build our lives on obedience to Jesus Words
Matthew 7:24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
8) Reading the whole Bible yearly causes you to know the whole counsel of God. If you only read the parts of the Bible you want you will not have a balanced view of God and His purposes
Acts 20:27 For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God.
9) Christians must be filled with the Word of God to resist the Devil
Luke 11:24-26 24 “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ 25 And when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order. 26 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first.”
10) Faith comes by hearing the Word of God and faith pleases God
Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
11) Believers are to allow the word of Christ to live in them richly
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another...
12) The Word of God transforms us from glory to glory
2 Corinthians 3:18 And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit. Amplified
13) The Word of God will fill you with the knowledge and wisdom of God and cause you to be stable in uncertain times having strong confidence of your salvation in Christ Jesus
Isaiah 33:6 Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, and the strength of salvation...
14) The Word of God is our measure against false Religions
Acts 17:11These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. 12 Therefore many of them believed.
15) Kings of Israel were commanded to write a copy of the law and read from it daily. New Testament Believer are called to rule in life through Jesus Christ.
Deuteronomy17:18 “Also it shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a book, from the one before the priests, the Levites. 19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the LORD his God and be careful to observe all the words of this law and these statutes, 20 that his heart may not be lifted above his brethren, that he may not turn aside from the commandment to the right hand or to the left, and that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his children in the midst of Israel.
So you can see by the Word of God that reading it daily has great spiritual blessings. For these reasons the One Year Bible Club has been created to strengthen you in your relationship with God.
My goal is to follow the example of Ezra:
So they read distinctly from the book, in the Law of God; and they gave the sense, and helped them to understand the reading. Nehemiah 8:8
