“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

7 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. 3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye?5 Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. 6 “Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces. 7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! 12 Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. 13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

OKAY, HERE’S MY TEACHING COMMENTARY

In this portion of Scripture Jesus talks about several topics that I want to cover.

The first is worry.
Jesus gives us an example about how God cares and feeds all creatures of earth and tells us that He will take care of us also. The priority for the Christian is seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all the things that we need will be added to us.

Jesus teaches about prayer and makes it ultra-practical!
He says ask, seek and knock. It's one thing to pray but then we need to put feet on our prayers. You can pray for a job all you want but until you go out and ask for the job and knock on doors of employers you probably won't get the new job you're praying about. Typically, employers don't show up on your door asking if you want a job. No, we have to go out and look for the job but when we pray before we go out we get God involved and He can guide us and give us favor with man.

Heavenly Wisdom.
Jesus also teaches us to take one day at a time and not try to figure everything out because every day has enough things we need to deal with. When you start to worry about tomorrow it's like multiplying worry, which leads to stress. It's better just to put your future in the hands of God and do your part by being responsible to work, save for retirement and plan for your family. But don't get stressed out about life!

What's the golden rule?
Treat everyone the way you yourself would like to be treated. Do you want love? Show love to other people. Do you want to be accepted? Then be kind and accepting of other people. Do you want respect? Then show respect and treat other people equally and give honor where it's due and show humility and favor will come to you.

Jesus taught us that there are two roads.
One leads to eternal life. That's the narrow road. Another leads to destruction in hell. That's the wide road. It's the road that everybody is already on. People need to get off the wide road and make a decision to get on the narrow road, which is Jesus Christ and follow Him.

WHAT’S THE BOTTOM LINE?

1) Make a decision to stop worrying and trust God to take care of you.
2) Put your priorities in order. Worship God first and live according to His Word.
3) Learn to pray well! Be persistent asking, seeking and knocking and the answers will come.
4) Live by the Golden rule and treat others the way you yourself want to be treated.
5) Walk the straight and narrow road that leads to eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
