What is Prophetic Preaching?

Picture
_ Prophetic Preaching is receiving and delivering messages in the prophetic anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Nick believes strongly in the prophetic Word of God to minister uniquely to each Church. God wants to restore His Church for end times ministry and be glorified in His saints as they are transformed from glory to glory by the Word and Spirit of the Lord!

_Hearing what the Lord has to say is a choice

The New Testament is not silent about hearing what God has to say through the Holy Spirit and prophets preaching in the Churches:
  • He who has ears to hear, let him hear! Matthew 13:9
  • The wisdom of God also said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles...Luke 11:49
  • He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers Ephesians 4:11
  • And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and daughters shall prophesy...Acts 2:17
  • And in these days prophets came from Jerusalem to Antioch. Acts 11:27
  • He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. Rev. 3:22
  • See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. Hebrews 12:25
  • God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers...1 Cor. 12:28
  • Let two or three prophets speak, 1 Cor. 14:29
  • Now Judas and Silas, themselves being prophets also, exhorted and strengthened the brethren with many words. Acts 15:32
  • Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers...As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said...Acts 13:1-2
Additionally, if Jesus warned to beware of false prophets that indicates that there must be true prophets! Those that deny the authenticity of the prophetic ministry today would need to tear several pages out of the New Testament! No, the office and ministry of the prophet has never been removed from the church but men have always tried to silence prophets from the beginning of time till the present day.

Why? Because real prophetic preaching and ministry has been known to bring divine confrontation, convict of sin and lead people to sincere repentance among God's people. Just read Revelation chapters 2-3. Five of the seven churches had issues and sin that Christ Himself sought to correct through His servant John exhorting people to repent and be fully restored!

However, the typical ministry of a New Testament Prophet is POSITIVE!!! The Apostle Paul instructed the Church at Corinth to "Covet to Prophesy" (1 Cor. 14:39) and that it should always do three things according to (1 Cor. 14:3)
  • Edification - Build up!
  • Exhortation - Stir up!
  • Comfort - Cheer up!
Jesus Christ is alive from the dead and sees the condition of His Church. As the head of His body He wants to build up and strengthen His people through those He has called to preach. If Prophetic preaching does not encourage and lift believers to a closer walk with God it's probably not from the Holy Spirit.

Prophetic preaching must be based on the written Word of God
Prophetic preaching does not have the authority of the written Word of God but it is based on the written Word of God being preached with revelation knowledge of the Holy Spirit.
1 Thessalonians 5:21, I Corinthians 14:29-33

Are the gifts of the Holy Spirit for today, Yes!
In addition to Prophetic Preaching, Nick also functions from time to time in the gifts of healing and prophecy ministering to people being sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. However, the gifts of the Spirit listed in I Cor. 12 are only manifested as the Holy Spirit wills and not men. In other words, you just cant turn the gifts of the Holy Spirit on like a light switch. The Bible teaches that God distributes the gifts of the Holy Spirit as He wills not man. “But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.” 1 Cor 12:11
_Why Request Prophetic Preaching?

If a Pastor requests prophetic preaching, Nick will seek God in prayer and the Word to hear what message the Holy Spirit wants preached at your Church. When a Pastor asks for prophetic preaching he's saying:

Nick is submitted to spiritual authority
Picture
_The highest spiritual authority in every local Church is Jesus Christ. However, the Senior Pastor is the one that Jesus appoints as the ruler of His house. While ministering at another man's church Nick views himself as an invited guest preacher and is at all times under the authority of the Senior Pastor. The last thing that Nick would ever want to do is embarrass an individual or pastor through any inappropriate kind of preaching or ministry. Prophetic preaching and any ministry that follows is always to glorify God, strengthen the church and be carried out decently and in order Cor 14:40.

Gifts and Fruit of the Spirit in perspective
Finally, though the Lord does speak today and manifests Himself through the gifts of the Holy Spirit to build up the Body of Christ, the Word of God makes it clear that Spiritual gifts are temporary. Love and the fruit of the Spirit are eternal. Therefore, walking in the love and holiness of God is a choice and should always be followed and manifested in all areas of personal life and public ministry.
